When you start grabit for the first time, you will see a wizard.
First and most important step: you will have to enter the details of the newsserver which you want to use. Enter the hostname (news.something.com or an ip-adress). If you have a username and password, also check "News (NNTP) server requires a username and password." After that, hit "Next"

If you've checked "News (NNTP) server requires a username and password." in the previous screen, you can enter your username and password in this screen. Keep in mind that usernames and passwords are case sensitive (User, user and USER are three different names). Hit "Next"

In this last screen you'll see an option to get a new groupslist. Make sure it's enabled and click on "Finish"



Now grabit will lauch and it will get a new groupslist from your server. Just wait untill it's done.



Configuring grabit

Go to edit/preferences



Go to the "Folders"-tab and change your default download-directory by clicking on the "..."-button



Choose your download-directory and hit "OK"



Now go to the "Posting"-tab and fill in your details



Leave things like this for now. Once you get to know grabit you can change all the other options.
